Ant infestation

Tuesday, May 20, 2008

So I don't ever remember having these kind of ant problems in Wyoming. Here in Provo these ants are everywhere. We already decided that there isn't much point in killing them once they are inside the house. The best remedy seems to be keeping the house clean enough so as to not create yummy temptations. Just the same I can't help but wonder if we are the only one's even around here that have to battle these things every summer? PS I totally just blogged this video from my cell phone. Dang that's cool.

I'd give Ortho Max a try. That kills a buttload of stuff around our house. I simply spread the micropellets around the outside of the house, and then I use the spray inside the house around doors, windows and other openings.

Of course, this does nothing to the freakin' spider mites that are making their normal yearly migration into our house.

Ami keeps telling me to spray, spray, spray, but I'm not convinced its a long term solution.

I can't get the video to work! It keeps saying that it's not available and to try again later.... not that I'm Dying to see the ants... heeby jeebies... but really, now my curiosity is piqued, it's now forbidden fruit.
as for the ants: that sucks! taylor insists on this plan of attack- find the trail that the ants are all following, and bleach the crap out of it... all the way to the origin- then the ants "forget" where to go and stop following the trail. my approach, freak out and call someone to bug bomb your whole place. easy peasy

I hate these darn ants more than I've ever hated anything in my life. I'm convinced keeping the house clean doesn't work seeing as how I had to clear out an infestation directly after I'd swept and mopped the floor. I think they know how badly I hate them, and they come in just to smite me. I love the feeling of squashing them. MWAHAHA!!! I don't think a bug bomb will do the trick. I think it will take a nuclear bomb covered in bug poison.

Things that we've found work: Spray around doors, as already suggested, playdough (don't know why), bleach. I find that if I spray the doorways when I notice them that I do not have reoccurring problems. That or Potter is eating them and I haven't noticed.

Clearly there is something particularly perfect about your yard/house that ants like. The soil must be special, or something. I agree with Katy that nightmares may ensue from your video...(and wouldn't be the first antmares, either). Ya gotta spray, Jacob. Get the big guns. Why resist such a lovely, violent solution?

Independence Day is just around the corner. I think you should show those ant how we Americans celebrate it up close and personal. I'm talking lighting fireworks all over their homes. They'll be thinking they were in the Tora Bora mountain range. lol
